Add the watts for the Aquaclear plus the second Aquaclear (AC) and the pump. This provides you with the ba __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

dan76 Big Fish Always Reading Posts Posts: 343 Registered: 08-Jul-2003 | as bob said add wattages together to come up with a total. at work i go on full load when doing calculations as this gives max cost . so say you had a 100w light, 100w filter and 300w heater= 500w. now power companies charge out kilowatt hours {1000w for 1 hour}. so in the example your using 12Kw hours a day so if its 10cents a Kw/h =$1.20 a day. so now all you have to do is work out how many Kw/h you use and how much you get charged to get an idea. i shudder to think how much my tanks cost each bill. |

At the time it had an AC 150, 1 30 watt bulb, and a 100 watt heater set on the lowest temp. By my estimates it used less than 20 watts an hour over a 24 hour period. Since I wasn't using my alarmclock anyway I simply unplugged that as compensation :%). Additionally I do keep my tanks insulated in winter, and fish that can handle a wider range of temperatures (68-90ish) so that I have more control over the temp of the tank and therefore the ammount of electricity wasted. ^_^[hr width='40%'] The life, the love, You die to heal.
