I just bought an Aqu One 4ft twin fluro unit for the 5ft tank. It is a well built light with a decent polished reflector it also has a protective cover for the tubes.

But here is the BIG PROBLEM it comes with two standard white fluro tubes not worth even using them over an Aquarium.

Apparently Aqu One is not the only light manufacturer doing this practice.

A good plant and daylight tubes cost about 50% the cost of the light unit

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

HI,
Many manufacturers, for some reason, (contracts with
the light bulb manufacturers for lower prices?) will
include bulbs that just are not the best for our tanks.
I especially dislike the ones that furnish one white
light and one actinic blue light. Others, such as yours
either use a "glow" or even warm white lights. The light
they give off can be purplish, even pink.

If I cannot convince the seller to swap bulbs out for me
to ones I want, then I just set the bulbs aside and
buy what I want for the tank. I stick with DAYLIGHT or
SUNLIGHT labeled bulbs and never use an actinic blue bulb
on a freshwater tank.

Ohhh, not fun. This must be a fairly new development, they used to come with Atman tubes (10000K and 15000K I think).
