Rattle in Fluval 2 Plus | |
Big Fish Posts: 343 Kudos: 351 Votes: 14 Registered: 18-Aug-2003 | There is a consistent rattle in my Fluval 2 PLus. Only just started happening tonight. Makes the very quiet filter very noisy. It's clean and I don't know why it is making such a noise. Anyone had this problem? |

The only thing I can think of is to make sure the impeller is clean and if you just took the filter out to clean it it will be a bit noisy due to air pockets being trapped in the unit. When I clean out my Fluval 204 (canister) it is louder when I put it back on because of the air escaping. It usually goes away within a few hours. If this is the case you will see little air bubbles coming out. Edit: And as baz said... the impeller may be worn out... how long have you had the filter? Last edited by ericm at 09-Sep-2005 15:23 |

It's really very easy, as the impeller is magnetic and just slides out, and you can use a toothbrush (a new one used for aquariums only!) or q-tips to clean the housing. This should be done once a month or so because even though it doesn't look dirty, the slime keeps the magnet from "sticking" properly, which causes it to rattle. Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean... |
