hi all
Thought it was time for me to contribute something

My Angles suddenly decided to spawn and I had no spare tank or dividers. It was past shop opening times so I was left to be resourcefull.

I built this tank divider out of some flyscreen and perspex bits in my garage.

Its width is adjustable, and the bottom can follow the lay of the land ie over and or around rocks and such (to a small extent anyway). I also feel its less obtrusive to the the look of the tank than a full perspex divider you see in the shops.

Hi,
Good thinking to resolve a problem in the short term.
I'd be thinking about using actual dividers that don't
exert additional pressure on the tank sides. The bent
plastic stips holding the assembly in place is adding
to the outward pressure of the water in the tank.
Over time, if strong enough, the tank seals could start
to leak.

well done,a great temperarey idea,i have lots of different sized tank dividers,im always going on about how good they are,but really im speaking from experience with em,as i keep most aggressive cichlids, ive just found ive needed them so many times over the years, there great when aggression breaks out at night,or when the fish shop is closed, tanks are full,or just intill your lfs opens again,a great fishkeeping tool..

Thanks all
No worries Frank, the plastic strips are quite weak, just enough to keep the rods in place. As an engineer I can tell you they are insignificant compared to the water pressure
However it was well worth raising the issue Ill add the comment to my web page.

you liked the camera angle huh perspex and pvc are sooooo keewwl to play with
glad ya liked it. I can even make the strips glow at night if I wanted. LEDs in the edge would certainly make it look way goodr. Cant think of a practical use for it tho

"strips that glow at night"
Makes me think of those hotted up cars with the lights glowing from underneath....the ones that have to be switched off when the other cars with lights go past (the ones with lights on top and a uniformed driver).
