For one thing, It is an internal filter(not very good). The top looks like an eclipse, and has good lighting for that size of a tank-about 2wpg on the 7g(60l), and 2-2.5wpg on the smaller 3-4g(30l). Overall, i would change the filter to at least a 10-15 gallon cascade(hard to do with pre built hood), and add the usual plants and drift wood. Thanks for the new tank info!

Hi juwel

I find always lighting is lousy in the "all in one" package deal aquariums. My maths is lousy, so I might have this all wrong, but I came up with much worse figures for lighting than GobyFan.

60L tank = 15.8 US Gallons, = 0.94 wpg.
30L tank = 7.9 US Gallons, = 1.3wpg.

That's fairly low lighting levels, but if you're not having plants, that won't matter to you at all. If you do want plants, you probably still can, but your choices will be limited to plants that tolerate low light levels.

For tanks that size, the filter is probably ok. I have used that sort in small temporary tanks I set up (for babies or sick fish) but I have no experience of them on a long term use basis.

I have 3 of these all in one tanks, that I am slowly either converting or getting rid off - all because the lighting won't let me grow the plants I want. They are all good tanks, but have no flexibility for upgrade. All this means that any savings I thought I initially made in buying the cheap all in one package deal tank has been spent (plus extra) in replacements now. So, keep that in mind.

So it comes down to price, space availabily & your purpose. If you just want something small & simple with only a few fish then they will be ok.

My preference though would be to get a glass tank, buy a filter & light to go with it.

Anyway, have fun.

Cheers

ye i have to say that is the only down side with these one set up tanks rubbish lighting. But hay cant win them all. The price is not to bad the cheapest i found it in the uk is £70.00 which i think is good considering. The onlt think is tetra have been working for ages on this filter. Do u think they have got the filter right and if not what would u have put in if u worked for tetra?

I got about the same numbers as TankWatcher

7.9 gal tank (smaller one) has about 1.4W/gal
15.9 gal tank (bigger one) has about .94W/gal

These tank kits almost always look nice, but i don't always know how good of quality the equipment is. I think it is pretty cool how it opens on both sides of the hood.

I think all it looks like is they tried to stick a fancy looking hood on some odd sized tanks. None of it looks like anything new except the shape of the hood. You could put the setup together yourself and stick a better light on it if for some reason you really liked that filter and other equipment. Personally I'd just avoid it completely. There are better setups out there and you can definitely do better if you picked out all the equipment, especially the light, yourself.
