I have a Juwel Rio 125 and probably shortly after xmas we will be getting a new carpet fitted which means...you've guessed it emptying and moving the tank around. If anybody has any tips on how to empty and store water/filter media and fish etc it would be much appreciate it but thats a while off yet.

What i really would like help on at the moment is filters.
I currently use the filter which is in the Rio 125 but when i have to move the tank i really want to add an extra filter onto the tank or replace the current one because at the moment i cant do it because the cabinet is too close to the wall.

Im looking at Eheim externals.

Firstly there is the 2224 proffesional cannister.

I was thinking of running this combined with the juwel filter or would i just need the Eheim?

Or

The Eheim 2226 proffesional cannister.
http://www.eheim.com/Zubehoer.cgi?Mode=zeige&welches=2226&Filter=u200

Which i would run by its self and removing the Juwel filter, which reminds me, if anyone knows how to take out a juwel filter let me know.

Or would i better going for a fluval 404 which probably cheaper and turns over more L/H?

Any help would be very much appreciated

Eheims are known for their quality and for their premium prices. The Eheim models that you indicated in your post have a minimum 700LPH pump output compared to 600 LPH for the Standard H internal filter offered in your package. The Fluval will also do a fine job.

Choose a filter that gives you five to ten time tank turnover or output of 600 to 1200LPH for your aquarium.

You can store your filter media, sponges, in a bucket of aquarium water. However, I would remove 2/3 of the water from your tank, find a friend or friends and carefully carry it to a new location away from the carpet installation. Refill the tank and treat the water. It shouldn't be a bad experience. I've done it frequently with a 114L and a 136L tank.

Thank you for your moving tank tips.

I think i might get a eheim 2026 pro2 after seeing it for a very reasonable price.

A very wise choice the Eheims might cost more $$ but are worth the extra. The Pro11 series are fully made in Germany.
