actually i dont know the dimensions but i do know that the tank i want to get is a 29 gallon.......do you think a stand would hold a 29 gal using simple butt joints or would i have to go with that elaborate method of cutting notches out of each board and then putting them together??

Hi,
My 29G is 12 x 26 x 15 (outside dimensions).
Plug them into the calculator and it will give
you the materials needed, and the type of construction.

i put the dimensions in but i think that it tells you how to build the tank, not the stand......

Run a bead of silicone along all edges of the bottom glass. (these are the edges that will seal with the front, back, and side glass)

Carefully place all pieces in place surrounding the bottom piece. All contacting surfaces should have a bead of silicone.

Use tape or clamps to hold the pieces in the correct position. When using silicone you will have plenty of time to make adjustments. Silicone can become a gooy sticky mess so you should keep the material and work area as clean as possible.

Once all pieces are correctly positioned, let the aquarium set for 24 hours.

After the silicone has cured, it is time to add the glass to the top. This piece of glass makes the sides stronger so the glass does not bow when the tank is filled.

With all my trade skills I found it difficult to work out all the instructions. It will take a lot of 100% accuracy in cutting certainly not with a hand power saw.

I also think you might require a lot more tools than that suggested.

How old are you and what skills do you have?

actually,i came up with a design of my own and i bought 2 2'x8' sheets of 3/4" thick plywood.i cut the shelves and sides out and i plan on assembling them later today.i did get help from my dad though, because he works at a hardware store and he probably can cut straighter lines with a power saw than i can
