This is in a 2nd hand 2' that i nabbed off someone who (understandably) didnt feel that they could reseal it. I have stripped and resealed it, but it is full of these pitmarks, only on the ba I am assuming its uneven pressure. yeah? this panel was so bad i had to turn it upside down to get a good seal. All it takes is a little bump against something and pop, there goes a little chip of glass. Yup, chipped a tank edge myself on a brand new 20, going through a doorway. Grrrr! Should have protected it better with my knuckles! ![]() |

Smoothing them out with some jewelers rouge would take the sharp edges off them. I'm not sure I'd have turned the plate upside down and made the imperfect edge the bottom. I would probably have simply turned it so the dammaged edge was still on top but facing into the tank. The completed tank looks great from the distance. I hope it holds water ![]() Frank ![]() -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

To smooth or round edges on glass the Glaziers use an Carberundum oil stone. It is used at an angle from the face of the glass. Certainly oil is not used they use water. Wet and dry or emery paper can be used but this is too slow and costly. The movement is more across the glass but slightly upwards as well that stone I would start at the front of the stone and finish at the back of the stone. You can wipe the glass down as you go (Do not use your hand or fingers) a damp cloth is best. Here is a photo of my wife's hand doing a hand modeling job for you Keith ![]() ![]() keithgh attached this image: ![]() Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. A good possiblilty is the cut was not clean and straight leaving some behind still attached to the glass sheet required. It should be removed with a special pair of flat plyers with the jaws in a cloth material. It looks like a very rough job in the first place. Yes I can cut glass and my mate is a retired glazier.
