Anyways, today it was working fine one moment and I look over ten minutes later and it had completely stopped working. It wasn't making any sounds and had quit pumping water. I went and bought a Penguin 330 because I have this filter on another tank and really like it. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew what if there was someway to fix the broken filter. My best guess is that it got sand stuck in it somehow/where. I don't want to throw it away if I can salvage it for use in a future tank. TIA Jen |

It had only been running for about a month and was on the opposite side of the heater, so I don't think that was the problem. I'll try and use the q-tip to clean it all out and see if that works. Anything is worth a try. If worse comes to worse, I'll just throw it out, I was just hoping to save it if at all possible. Thanks again! Jen |

Just a thought anyway. Keith ![]() ![]() Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I VOTE DO YOU if not WHY NOT? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I would pull the impeller from the housing well and clean the impeller magnet and blades with a tooth brush. Use a "tube brush" to scrub the impeller well to eliminate any grunk. After you reassemble the unit. Fill the unit with water and test it outside of your aquarium. You should feel the power come on if you hold the unit. If the impeller does not spin, use a q-tip to get it started. Another possibility besides grunk is that the impeller is separated from the magnet. Magnet spins, impeller doesn't. You then need a new impeller. I have a Resun 900L internal power filter for 30 gal. I wonder if you have heard the name... but its a wellknown brand here. I cleaned all the parts with impeller, But could not remove the impeller from the shaft as i thought i would break everything. Should I break the seal and remove all the parts or take it to the LFS if they can do something about it ?. I have to buy a new one today as my tank is without filter for more than 24 hours. |

Of course, if not take it the lfs and see if they can do it. __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

The guy at the store tested it and to my surprise! it was working. I donno what went wrong with it. I still bought a bigger one of the same make and kept the earlier one as spare. The tank should be much better with the new filter. |

That way, if one should stop functioning, the other unit is in place and operating. I like having system backups. I always like to use two heaters and two filters just in case one blinks out! __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |
