![]() | installing eheim 2213 |
misty666660![]() Hobbyist Posts: 68 Kudos: 61 Votes: 1 Registered: 05-Aug-2004 ![]() ![]() | Hi, I am just installing an eheim 2213. One of the parts is light and dark grey hard plastic, attaches to the tubing that runs to and from the tank, and looks like an extended garden hose connector. The instruction manual doesn't seem to mention them (but i could have misread it). Two were provided so i'm guessing one goes on the inflow tube and one on the outflow. What are they? What do they do? Are they necessary or can they be left off? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I suspect that if the hoses reach the tank then they are not needed for the filter to run. If you need longer hoses, then these become the connectors for the additional length of hose. The hose from the filter is pushed onto one end and the additional length of hose is pushed onto the opposite end. Its a fitting. The two pieces that you are refering to are quick release valves and are used so you can remove the canister without removing all the pipes and the water in them. What I did is put these peices in the pipe about 1-2 inches from the inlet & outlet valves on the filter. You can screw the ends down then put them in the pipe and tighten it up simmilar to a garden hose. You can turn the light grey valves to control the water flow in the canister or stop it completly. When you are going to clean out the filter turn it off at the power point close all 4 valves and unscrew the light grey sections in ther centre. This will cause the 2 sections to come apart and allow you to remove the canister and leave the water in the pipes. Remember you may need to open the valve on the top of the canister (the one nearest the outlet) before removing the black top as it will cause a vacumm effect if you dont. When you finish cleaning out the filter, close the top valve and reconect all the pipes, open the outflow valves and then the inlet ones. This shoud start the water flowing through the filter and up the outlet pipe (no sucking required). When this occures you can restart the filter. Dont forget that at some stage you will need to remove all the pipes and clean them out too. I hope this helps. If you need anymore help let me know. ![]() Its better to be hated for who you are...
