a stand is a structure located under the tank itself to support its weight and keep it off the floor. its open and sometimes comes with a shelf on the bottom.

a cabinet is also a structure located under the tank itself to support its weight and keep the tank off the floor but is closed like a cabinet. this allows for storage.

a canopy is a over sized hood allowing for lights but doesnt usually come with the lighting included. usually made of wood that matches a cabinet or can be used alone with a stand. usually they are used to hide serious lighting or open top tanks. a glass top is a good idea to have with these when used with lighting and dont want a open tank.

hope this helps.

Hi,
While you may feel like smacking yourself on the forehead
and saying Duuuh! Others may have had the exact same
question and were too timid to ask.

Always ask... I do it all the time here, and frequently
smack my forehead, that's why it is generally flat and
has no hair!

The fine line beteen stand and cabinets is now quite
well explained.

"Don't ask less, Ask More!"

No question is ever dumb, we all had to start some where.

Sin summed it up with his answer.
