They are designed to work together. Once you are done dosing the tank run actvated carbon for about 2 weeks to clear out the meds. You need to remove the carbon during treatment. I am dealing with the same thing in my 10g tank with a betta. It seems to be working although I will be doing a second run of meds with both mela-fix and pima-fix this time. Medication will cure the fish but there is a very good chance it will not cure the cause of it. What are all your water peramiters, feeding, and percentage of water changes also how often. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. It means that your water parameters are not right and that your tank needs maintenance. Dosing with Melafix will not make conditions worse but it will not treat the source of the problem. Frequent water changes and great tank maintenance will do much more good than a gallon of Melafix or 100 doses of any anti-bacterial drug. Take Krib's advice and do a 25% water change but be sure to vaccum the substrate and to clean your filter. Follow up with a 25% water change tomorrow and a 25% water change the following day. __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |
