I don't know how popular that'd be, though. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

I have tried sending PMs when you see who is online but I thing their name remain there even when they have left the forum. FRANK Moderator Posts: 5108 Kudos: 5263 Votes: 1690 Registered: 28-Dec-2002 | Hi Keith, Sorry we missed each other at what is now "a while back." I've been really scarce on FP ever since the middle of November of last year. Susan had been working in what amounts to agony since the preceding August when she developed pain in her lower back. Taking increasingly more and stronger drugs for the pain, She finally woke me at 0300 one night crying in the living room. I asked her what the problem was and she said that she could not take the pain any more (I'd been trying for months to convince her to go back to the spine surgeon) and this time I was even more emphatic in my urging. She called the Dr the next day Thursday, and got an appointment Friday. They took X-Rays and when they put them on the viewers, the difference between the 6 month old ones and these new ones were like a poke in the eye. They were that startling. The disk between L-3 and L-2 was completely missing and bone was grinding on bone with the nerves squished (a technical term) in between. They went in and removed the old cage S-1 to L -4, and put in a new cage from S-1 to L -2, and routed out the accumulating calcium in the openings that the nerves exit the spinal cord from. They operated the next day and she has been out of work, and in therapy since. The Dr wrote a letter saying that she could return to work on the 21st of January with some restrictions (no lifting over 20 pounds, and no bending twisting, etc.) Our company refused her permission to return to work until she could come back with no restrictions and could pass a physical designed around our job demands. Since the surgery in November, I've been managing a two person property by myself. I'm managing a 781 unit storage facility on 6 acres. Initially doing everything for Susan including guiding her as she walked around the house, all the cooking, cleaning, and laundry. There was not much left of me to visit FP. Now, she is teetering around on her own, walking on the treadmill, and gaining strength. She is able to help with some of the chores as long as she does not have to stand or walk allot to accomplish them. But it is going to probably take a full year before she is back to 100% and the company steadfastly refuses to allow her to return to work and is threatening to release her in a couple of months. If they do that, when/if she returns they will probably rehire her at the entry level pay instead of her 17 year employee pay. Until the company either gives me an assistant, or Susan returns to work, my days on FP will be restricted to checking through the forums in the morning before work. We settled (again) on our house yesterday, this ones going to need a total repaint before we can have the floors sanded, then security screen doors put in, and hopefully soon have the rotted support beam under the laundry porch fixed ! And then comes the fun of moving (for the 5th time!) Still on prepaid internet so it does run a bit slow, hopefully soon I'll have a little more time to pop into chat. I've been trying to keep up with the boards, even if it is to pretty much reconfirm with a small addition to the other post, it was the activity of posts on the forums that keep me here when I first found the site. I have a feeling other people may feel the same way if they see a fairly inactive forum they'll simply wander off. Goodness Frank I had really hoped Susan had been doing better but that sounds horrible ^_^ |

Any firing before that, they are open to a law suit. That's US Federal Law. My sister had an car accident last summer and is going through something similar. She will loose her position but as long as she goes back to work before one year is up, they have to place her in a similar position without a change in pay. TTFN --->Ta-Ta-For-Now Kelly ;o} |

FRANK Moderator Posts: 5108 Kudos: 5263 Votes: 1690 Registered: 28-Dec-2002 | Just a quick update. Susan was experiencing some pain in her lower back in the pelvic area. A return to the surgeon and X-Rays showed that she was bending over too much (to eliminate the pain) and now she is going back into surgery this Friday where they will remove the apparatus, insert some wedges in the spine, and replace the apparatus. It's an eight hour surgery (at least) and she will have to restart everything all over again from scratch. Frank -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |
