Hello There,

Someday's when I do water changes the water that comes out of the tap is very very cloudy. I don't get this water every time I do water changes (1 or 2x a month) but when ever I do I become leery of putting the water in the tank. The other night when I was putting the water in I noticed that along with cloudiness the water actually (well the best way I can describe it) has a type of fog that comes off it. Or you know those smoke machines that people use at party's and on Halloween...well its like that type of fog but it comes from the water(or at least out the pipe of the python with the water)

When I notice it this time I took some in a jar and tested it and its no different than the clear tap water I test.
Ammonia-1
nitrite-0
nitrate-5
ph-7.8

The fish don't look harmed by it, but I really don't know. They don't gasp for air or any thing nor does there breathing increase rapidly. The water does clear up with in 5-10 min or so.
I was wondering if any one has experienced this with there tap water? Is it something I should avoid and be worried about, and should I try to get in touch with my water supply company and see what this water is?

Thank to any advice,

Tigermom

Hi,
I have this with our well up at our mountian home every
once in a while. The water is so foamy (so to speak) that
it almost resembles soapy water. Fill a glass with it
and you can watch the fog dissipate as the water degasses.

I'd say that its normal.

Cool! Your tank must be a hit on halloween!!! LOL

Does the fog look like it came from a dry ice bubble? Is it cold? It must be cool to see and hold! Maybe its just the cold air from the water....?

My water does this too a lot. It's just trapped air bubbles.

I have had it happen and the water supply explained it is nothing to worry about as it is air in the pipes.
I was told to what Frank has said in his reply

Ahh great, thanks for all your replies. I was really irked buy how the water looked, but I am glad it is nothing to worry about. I did go to my water supply company web site and now have all there contact info if it does not clear up Goby haha, no I couldn't hold the fog but it was kinda neat to see. Next time it happens ill try it though.

Again thanks everyone,

Tigermom
