carttman Small Fry Posts: 11 Kudos: 12 Registered: 16-Feb-2006 | I have a 29 gallon aquarium and I would like to use eco-complete as my substrate and I was wondering how many bags I should get? Could somebody please tell me. |

Remember it has to be washed well even if where you bought it tells you it is clean. A word of caution I imported some snails via my substrate. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Some plants such as the "carpet" plants for the foreground area will thrive in substrate that is less than 2 inches while other plants such as the Amazon Sword plants will do better in substrate that is 3 to 4 inches deep. Here is a site to calculate the amount that you will need: http://www.plantedtank.net/substratecalculator.html Most folks will pile the substrate to the back and slope it gradually to the front. That way the solid waste products roll/flow/move downhill and collect at the front of the tank where it is easiest to vacuum it off.
