To The Top Or Not! | |
BubbleLover Hobbyist Posts: 64 Kudos: 32 Votes: 45 Registered: 12-Feb-2006 | Hi Everyone, I always have a debate with a friend of mine regarding how high to fill our aquariums to the top. Your comments would be appreciated so we can come to some 'ruling' as to how far from the top do you fill your tank. I like to leave my water about 4cm (1 1/2" off the top as otherwise I find my bubbles leave to much green algae on the cover glass. : Your comments will be appreciated. Thanks BubbleLover They love my bubbles 'pop' on their bum! http://photos.yahoo.com/shedevil_90 |

I do make sure that the water is to a level that covers my water return from the filter...this is just personal as a can't take the water fall sounds. |

I'm just trying to get some measurements here so I can relay them onto my friend. BubbleLover They love my bubbles 'pop' on their bum! http://photos.yahoo.com/shedevil_90 |

lowlight Enthusiast Posts: 166 Kudos: 94 Registered: 03-Apr-2005 | I have 2 HOB power filters on my 55. I keep the water level just below the water return, anywhere from 1/2 to 1 inch from the top. The lower the water level the more current gets generated. This has just been my experiance so I guess it would depend on what type of setup you have. |

The small tank I go to the ba Yes you get algae on the underside of the glass so what just clean it of when you do the weekly water changes it only takes an extra minute or two . With a small tank the higher the better as every Lt counts. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.
